Pretty good. It was interesting enough to keep your attention, although it did have some cliche moments. A bit short too (not quite an hour and a half). But it's entertaining. I can't really decide between giving it a 3 and a 4, but I think just because Rachel McAdams was so nice to look at I'll give it a 4.

Red Eye Rachel McAdams, Cillian Murphy wr.Carl Ellsworth dr.Wes Craven
In the extras on the DVD version of this thriller, Rachel McAdams says that she read the script and basically took the part when she found out she would be working with the great horror director Wes Craven. Well, I for one am glad she did. With this sort of mechanically plotted exercise in tension, McAdams proves herself to be a worthwhile lead actress. She plays the role to the hilt, hitting all of the right notes of fear and confusion while trying to do the right thing yet be human.
Her nemesis is the scary Cillian Murphy who seeths evil in every scene from their weird meeting to a plane ride that insures this will not be good in-flight entertainment for your next trip. Their interplay is good as well, as each actor invests in the other one for reactions so that their dialogue is never meaningless.
Outside of the claustrophobic airplane setting, Red Eye is a little confused though. Craven proves to be great at capturing the perils of travel and the plane sequence goes off without too many cliches. Otherwise, the other sequences are a little too "Die Hard" and fail to build up any real tension until they depart the plane. By then, you are kind of expecting a chase and Craven satisfies that need pretty well.
I really liked the fact that they kept this movie short. They didn't introduce any secondary plot devices or comic relief-just focused on the terror of the unknown person next to you on a long plane trip.
