Kudos to Dixie Electric. I know they've been taking a lot of heat about not having power restored to some of it's members, but after seeing just how many trees are down it's amazing the progress they have made so far.

My parents had service restored Sunday September 4 but many neighbors still don't have it. Hopefully now that MS power has reached their goal those crews will be able to help the EPA's out more.

I'm glad their power is back on because my niece has a trailer on their place and one of her sons has a heart condition so I feel better knowing he is able to be in an air conditioned environment. They got power back before we did! :)

My biggest gripe about Dixie Electric is that they don't let us know about the progress they are making. MS Power had a guy on WDAM twice a day who would report on how many meters had been restored that day. Randy Swan finally gave up on Dixie Electric providing information (despite several on-air requests to have someone from DE call with an update) and resorted to asking the MS Power guy about DE. I know they are working hard, if they would just PLEASE stop acting like they don't want to tell us anything about what's going on and let us know about the progress they are making! After much arm twisting they finally broke down about a week after the storm and started releasing small amounts of information.

WDAM did have the Dixie Electric president(or whatever) on..I saw him on air a couple of times..think he addressed the issue of people not being able to get through to them explaining that theire phone service was handling calls since they didn't have phone service at Dixie Electric yet...

Each night channel 7 did have an update on MS Power electricity restored as well as info from the EPA's. But it's like MS Power has everybody back up and now they are not providing the daily updates for the EPA's..although i have seen a commerical by Pearl River Valley saying they hope by the end of business today to have everyone's power restored.
