What did the players at the begining of fall practice do? What was the punishment for Dustin Almond? The punishment for Darren MCcaleb?

from the article...

"If McCaleb had been suspended, sophomore Britt Barefoot would have been the starting placekicker. But if Barefoot were to see playing time, he would likely lose a possible redshirt season."

What is "redshirt season"?

You can be red shirted because of injury or the team can red shirt you for the season.. That means you can practice, but not dress out for any games. Its all about the players eligble(sp).... alot of times freshman get red shirted to save there 4 years.. I know this all sounds confusing.. Another words if barefoot would have played then he would loose a year of being eligble(sp) instead of having 4 years of football he would only have 3 left...
Just forget it or someone might be able to explain it better or do some googling.....:smt006

You don't give yourself enough credit. Thanks to your explanation, I understand it now. :)

I believe Barefoot played some last year, so if they redshirt him this year that would leave him with 3 more years of elgibility after this one. Every student/athlete can have no more than 4 years/seasons, but if you are "redshirted" which means you can practice, but can't compete against outside competition(other teams), and not lose a year of elgibility. hope I haven't confused you.

Just stay locked inside or lose it. And if you see any of your possessions on the USM football team, I'd just consider it lost.

The ones that all got kicked off/suspended at the beginning of the season were apart of a fight at the Hi Hat 2000. The club was already off-limits for the team and they went there anyways.

Great way to show your intelligence, or lack thereof

I don't care. He is showing a lack of intelligence by saying, "Do we just recruit thugs or what".

If he doesn't know, then he shouldn't be making extreme comments like that unless he expects them back, right?

It was sarcastic as a general statement, of course I don't think all the football players are thugs. But I will tell you that I have recently been in a situation where I was actually living in the same building with the football players for a period of time, and several of us not on the team feared for our lives. These guys think they can do anything and get away with it. I think that's why you saw Bower try to step up at the beginning of last season and take action. I'm not even sure he knows about half the stuff that goes on behind the scenes.

And no, I don't mind your comments. That's what we're here for, to speak freely.

Reality check..It's not just the USM football team. It's the Miami football team, Oklahoma, every team is going to have that. The difference is, USM doesn't have NEARLY AS MANY compared to 90% of D-1 schools.

Of course 90% of the teams are like that, and just as long as the public knows about it, I'm ok. I just don't understand why the kicker getting arrested for assault on a female is news. Someone out there needs a bigger reality check than I do.
