Saying it's the best of the new trilogy is true..I'd settle for an apology from George Lucas for his misdirection of everything lately. The special effects are wonderful, but what lies underneath moves at a snail's pace as Natalie Portman (and many others..) phone their performances in. Lucas clearly is more dazzled by the eye candy of ILM's magic than we are-so the story is jumbled and dull. I'm going back to watch when Lucas actually had some tricks up his sleeve, say THX1138 and American Graffiti.

Well, Lucas has shown that his ability to direct actors to great performances is ZILCH. American Graffiti was a fluke.
C'mon Doc. How can you say American Graffiti is a fluke..it's well balanced, character-driven and was apparently a troubling shoot because they had to do everything in the middle of the night. Not to mention they had several stops in shooting because their permit was revoked, people were injured, etc.
He could direct back in the day, THX1138, Graffiti and Star Wars (IV:A New Hope) are testaments to that.

I finally saw the movie tonight on DVD. What a disappointment. :smt078
I'm sure Samuel L. Jackson was relieved to be killed off early to get out of this stinker. The acting sucked, the story sucked, and to top it off, they broke a few laws of physics just for kicks. Not to mention throwing in some unbelievableness in the opening battle scene.
But the CG was great as was the soundtrack. I suppose if you're a die-hard SW fan all the low parts can be overlooked. I'm not that big of a fan, however, to do that. :smt118
