Elizabethtown Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst wr.and dir. by Cameron Crowe
This one's quick, because I'm finding it hard to talk about this one without spoiling it, raising expectations, or just introducing too much thought into something you may have to wait to see.
Elizabethtown, the latest autobiographical story from Cameron Crowe, is flawed but fabulous. While not on the same dramatic level as "Almost Famous", Elizabethtown tries hard to be both dramatic and comedic as Crowe works awfully hard to tell a simple story..or it would seem. Wait before questioning your expectations..
The story that unfolds is the film is beautiful, but it's not being told with conventional film structure (introduce characters, introduce conflict, move to Act II) or even unconventional structure (think "21 Grams", a movie that continues to grow on me with multiple viewing). The story just follows the same winding roads that life gives us and in the end gives what I can only describe a lot of "little revelations".
[I'm withholding my voting until a few more people see it..not for me to make changes..
but so as to not influence your possible viewing...and apparently I have a bad reputation...?]
[P.S. The Grand rocks..I love that place..this is first movie I've seen in Hattiesburg where I didn't go home with a backache from being crammed into to uncomfortable seats]
