Holy Cow!
I'm an AL girl, so even though I'm not real fond of the White Sox, I'm going with them. I did not, though, bet the farm. :-D
fuzzis
Gutsy move, Aaron! lol I'd like to bet the farm on Houston, but I'm waiting on advice from my boys.

Yes and no. I want Houston to win, but my money's on Chicago. Either way, I win! lol It was a tossup, but I went with Chicago because of the home field advantage.

Roger Clemens is going to start the first game for Houston, which means he'll be able to pitch at least one more later on.
That dude's a hoss. Houston has the pitching to win.

10,000 do you realize how much intrest you are going to loose over the next week

I have Clemens rookie card, but he is notorious for not doing so well in playoff games. In the Yankees World Series, he was terrible. I think he's doing a little better in Houston though around friends and family.

is it a 1985 card or 1986 donruss??? I need to look I prolly have one to...
Growing up I had a large amount of cards.. I still have them in boxes and sleeves... man the card company's ruined the baseball card market

Not as much as I'll win!
I didn't realize I had so much money until just a few days ago. I'm rich! 10,000 is nothing. What else am I going to do with it, buy myself a pretty color? :-D

aaron

I want to say 86. I haven't checked the value since I bought it at the baseball card store that used to be in Village Green Mall for $10.

I wonder who's uniform and cap Clemons will retire when he's indicted to Cooperstown? He's played with the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Yankees, and Astros. He spent the most years with the Red Sox (and won several Cy Youngs there), but it does raise the question.

I think I'm going to pass on this one as well...if the World Series lasts tens days (goes seven games), I could make more more in hub $$ in interest than I would on the hope that the team I pick wins. Perhaps, we should simply bet on each individual game, which can be settled within hours after the game in question is over.

Could they not find anyone other than Josh Groban to sing the National Anthem? Ick.
Go White Sox.

I wondered who that was.
He was cute on Ally McBeal, but since then he's been a bit over-exposed. IMNSHO.

What an interesting game this is shaping up to be.
fuzzis
If every game's like tonight, it's going to make for a good series.

I've always been a fan (the strikes didn't bother me a whole lot), but I think that with teams making it to the series that haven't in awhile, it's a good thing for the game and its popularity. And if the games are good to boot...

I used to be more of a football fan until I moved to Illinois, and being so close to St. Louis, got interested in baseball, especially the Cardinals. It's good to see some different teams in the World Series for a change. They're playing some good ball tonight.

More bad officiating with the Dye call, but...still a lovely hit.
*sigh*
fuzzis
I agree...didn't look like it hit his arm to me.
fuzzis
10-23-2005, 10:03 PM
It didn't. There's a guy on another forum that I post on who is RAGING right now.
fuzzis
Is he raging over the bad call or saying it did hit him?
fuzzis
10-23-2005, 10:12 PM
Over the bad call. He lives in Houston and is a new convert.
I tend to be a bit philosophical about such things...as my friend reminds me, that's why they play all 9 and that's why it's a series and not a single game.
fuzzis
He should be happier now...tie game. This is the best set of games I've seen in a while. :smt038

I used to drive to Oakland to watch games. Didn't really like Oakland, and most of the time didn't care about the visiting team either. The tickets were cheap, and I enjoy watching baseball. It was a little disconcerting for the people sitting next to me when I was cheering for both teams. :smt042
Good games are good games, and while I'd rather the AL win, I'm OK if it's just a good game.
fuzzis
Fuzzis, you sound like me. I'd rather watch a good game and lose than to see a boring blowout.
fuzzis
10-23-2005, 10:27 PM
That's how I feel about it, although another friend of mine says I have no choice but to feel that way since my Royals ALWAYS lose.
I'm also one of those that really enjoys listening to baseball on the radio. When I taught, I had Game Day audio on my computer, and during baseball season, as we wrote, we listened to baseball games. LOL!
And Chicago WINS!
:-D
fuzzis
Woo-hoo!!!!! They're dancing in Chicago! What a game! :smt038

White Sox win 7-6...now up 2-0. Astros had better get it together quickly in Houston or this could be a short series.
