lol, good job. I'm almost ready for a new one. Mine just completely burned out from working on My Hattiesburg 24/7. It'd be good to see someone try to burn the site out by being on it 24/7 :)

You won't want to go back to a desktop after having the laptop!
Are you going wireless, cable, or dialup to the internet?

Way to go, noway.
Let me know how you like that one. I need to get me another, this one is starting to show its age. I'd been drooling over some of those Toshibas.

okay as I was looking through the sunday paper I noticed circuit city had my laptop for 200.00 less. after a 50.00 instant savings & 150.00 mail in rebate. I checked the ad and all the model numbers are the same. I called bestbuy and they said they have my laptop for 50.00 less and I need to come back with the ad and see what they can do for me. I hope I get the 200.00 back. If I dont I understand but its only been two days. That has to be a steal at 799.00 for this laptop. 24 months no interest. great xmas gift. I sure do have all the luck in the world(wait for the sunday sales papers)

I hope you can get some money back, but this is life in the technology world. Buy something one day and the next it's either obsolescent or worth a whole lot less. :smt102
You can't let things like this get to you, or you'll never buy any technology. If you need it, buy it - that simple.

I went buy bestbuy and they gave me a 50.00 refund for the laptop being 50.00 cheaper at circuit city. They would not match the 150.00 mail in rebates that circuit city was offering. I didnt really question them or ask why not.. I went by and got my comcast internet install kit and set it up all by myself:smt038 .... Now i need to install some spyware and things, pop up blockers.. Im sure this will be fun.. :smt024

Don't worry about popup blockers, just go to firefox.com and download and install Firefox as your browser. It blocks most all popups. It's a lot more secure than IE to boot.
Get McAfee virus software and install that. A lot of people like Norton, but on our machines at work it disrupts some of the tasks that we do, so we avoid it.
I also avoid Outlook and use The Bat! as my email client. Never had an email virus because of it, although it is possible if you're careless. It does cost about $30, however, but I've been using it for years so it's worth it.

I use Avast as my anti-virus protection. It's free, and it's very good.
I also think that you need to download at least one spyware detector, such as Spybot Search and Destroy or Adaware.

You also need a cable modem to plug the cable into. The modem will connect to the router.

Yeah, you need a wireless router. It plugs into the modem that you should have gotten from Comcast.

You need a cable modem then. You can either buy one, or rent one from Comcast for $3 monthly. The cable screws into the modem, and the modem then connects to the router by ethernet cable I believe.

I did all that the modem to the cable to the laptop.. You said something about a cable model? I know I need a router but what does the cable model do? and does the routers cost the same about everywhere?
