The second arrest most likely will ensure the Jones is denied bond. Under Mississippi law, when someone is arrested on a second felony while out of bond, their bond is revoked. The law, so far as I know, is silent when there are multiple felony charges that arise and virtually the same time (even before he can be released). I couldn't imagine him being released on bond, given these circumstances, however.
I must have missed something here. His second arrest...is that for the same crime as the first, or is this yet another one?

I think it's for the same offense, but you may need to be a lawyer, or stay at a Holiday Inn Express, to truly understand. :smt102

This guy (scum) really likes 'em young. :( Wonder if there's more out there other than these two.

How in a relatively small city like Laurel and a much smaller community in Ward 7 did this guy get elected? There's only approximately 2500 citizens in Ward 7 (maybe 1500 registered voters) and surely something as little as a custody battle involving a minor didn't slip under the radar screen. This is just completely mind boggling to me, especially on the heels of Thaddeus Edmondson.
I wonder when Kenneth Stokes and/or Bennie Thompson and/or better yet the False Phrophet Jesse are going to come down and say all of this is white racism?

IMO I feel that Jones was elected by the people in his ward based on culture and not on merit. Not to put a racist or prejudice spin on this comment, but if you look at elections involving candidates of color, many of the voters cast their vote on race instead of merit. This includes whites, blacks and hispanics. Yes their are many voters who break from the culture lines to vote for the most qualified candidate, but their are far too many who are more concerned to get "their" candidate in office than a person who can cross barrier lines for the sake of the municipality. As a couple of examples, Deborah Dennard could represent her ward in Hattiesburg more effectively if when other council members disagreed with her, she would not put the racist spin on it. DuPree was elected in Hattiesburg, not by the majority of voters in Hattiesburg, but by the majority of people who voted (especially in the black wards). The same came true during the mayors election in Laurel. People of all cultures must be able to put color and/or culture aside for the benefit if the municipality and its citizens.

He said he is Jehovah's Witness. Does anyone know anything about that religion? I know they don't celebrate birthdays or Christmas... obviously... but what the details? He said he can't give a blood sample because of his religion. Some folks need to find out when and where he got married. I imagine he had to give a blood sample for that, huh? He also used to be in the Air Force. I bet he had to give a blood sample a time or two there, also.

Here's a list of their belief's. I couldn't find anything about not being able to give blood. The only thing it mentioned about blood is #19 : You cannot take a blood transfusion, #61: You cannot use pet foods made with blood or blood products, and #99: You cannot donate blood or your organs when you die.
I guess he's using #99, but I read it as you can't donate blood "when you die."
Of all items listed below, only three have been discontinued. (marked with an asterisk.) All are listed, however, to show the absurdity of authority and the absolute control leadership has over the lives of members once they join.
My question is, with this extensive list, what CAN they do?

From the Watchtower site (http://www.towerwatch.com/Witnesses/Beliefs/their_beliefs.htm)
Blood
Jehovah’s Witnesses are not allowed to accept blood transfusions for themselves or their children, believing that this is the same as eating blood and is forbidden by the Bible. Many of Jehovah’s Witnesses have died because of this restriction the Watchtower Society has placed upon its followers. In the past the Watchtower Society has forbidden its followers to get vaccinations or accept organ transplants, many people died needlessly before the Watchtower Society changed its rules and allowed these procedures. They still hold fast to the prohibition of receiving blood transfusions. See the web site "New Light on Blood"

A couple of other sites that talk about what Jehovah's Witnesses believe and a bit about the history of the religion. (A long way to say that while the religion does not believe in blood transfusions, it doesn't appear that it would prohibit Councilman Jones from giving a sample for a DNA test)
Beliefnet (http://www.beliefnet.com/story/80/story_8034_1.html)
Gotquestions (http://www.gotquestions.org/Jehovahs-Witnesses.html) (says they're a cult and not a Biblically based religion)
Watchtower (http://www.watchtower.org/library/jt/article_03.htm) (gives scriptures to support their beliefs)

I'm confused. I checked out that watchtower site and the best I can tell, they're Christian. They're playing Bible games and quoting scripture from the Bible all over the place. Are they JW's ? or affiliated with them? If so, isn't that against about a dozen of thise rules? :smt102

IGID, I don't know but I wouldn't trust that site since it's a JW site. I got my information from an ex-JW from this site: http://www.watchthetower.com/
Go there and click on the link which says "How do Jehovah's Witness teachings about Jesus Christ compare with Scripture?" It will probably answer some of your confusion.
It starts out like this:
Many people are confused about the Jehovah's Witnesses and their teachings regarding Jesus Christ. People who encounter them ask, "Do you believe in Jesus?" Jehovah's Witnesses will answer, "absolutely!" But is He the same Jesus of the Bible? Is He the same Jesus that Christians believe in and worship? The following will help to answer these important questions from the Scriptures.
Jehovah's Witnesses and Christians differ on the most important of any doctrine, who Jesus Christ really is. This is not just a minute technical point. Knowing and believing in the real Jesus has eternal ramifications.
Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Jesus Christ was only a perfect man co-equal with the first man, Adam.....
