Is there a way to filter a certain forum from New Posts? For instance I just don't read the stuff in National but Newsguy (a bot I suspect) fills up National so that when I hit the New Posts button in the menu bar 60 - 70% of all the posts are National News. Ach.

It wouldn't be such a problem if I came more often but I just don't have the computer time I once did.

I've been wondering the same thing Joe. I even added Newsguy to my ignore list, but to no avail.

Hey, dude, you got to get your priorities in order. I mean, what's more important, some new kid or regular posting here? :-D

Well, the forum would probably not be here if it weren't for the newsguy. He saved me a lot of time starting topics on news that got other people talking. In the beginning, he was a good idea, but I think as the forum grows, he might need to be phased out. Personally, I liked him a whole lot better when he posted the top 3 to 5 news stories from everyday, but that technology isn't available with this upgrade, so it might be better that he gets layed off until further notice.

Or you could outsource his job to some Paraguayan dude. Nothing ever happens in Paraguay. ;)

Not about the newsguy, but about "new posts" filters. Sometimes when I leave the site and come back, then hit "new posts", it shows me some posts as new, but I've already read them. Been doing this for the last couple of days now.

Wilebill, it has always done that to me. There's a few quirks I've just learned to accept. Even after I read a new post and go back to the main page, it still shows that particular section as new. I have to go into each one two times to get it to clear out.

You can blame the arcade for that one. Since the cookie time is 2 hours now (so you don't lose your high score during a game) the forum keeps posts new for 2 hours too.

Oh ok, well that makes sense. :)

Well, it keeps posts flagged as "new" for longer than 2 hours. At least 4. And when I do click on a topic that I read hours ago but has a new post, it takes me to the post made several hours ago.

As the Myth Busters would say "Busted". :(

Basically, just like the rep points, powers, etc., the "New Post" link is pretty much worthless. I may as well just scan everything and look at the time/date myself.
