View Full Version : Imposter Alert!!

As I am typing this, hotmom0521 is logged on. Hotmom0521 so happens to be my wife, she is sitting right here beside me, and she certainly is not logged on. Someone is hacked onto to this time without her consent. I am asking nicely that whoever this is log off AS IN RIGHT NOW, so that the password can be changed. The 0521 in the name so happens to be a birthdate of one of our family members. While the posts on first glance appear to be innocent, this is not your screen name -- now get another one..
My wife also wants everyone to know that if any of hotmoms posts have offended her, these posts are not hers.
Hubba, I wouldn't be as nice as you about this. People shouldn't be hacking into someone's user ID.

Thanks, jmb, we're pretty upset about this....and I don't know why anyone would log onto the name
lamarrebel

She hasn't given it to anyone...though the password would be predictable to people who know us. The fact is though, until tonight, with her not posting, only one or two people actually knew hotmom was my wife.

If one is upper case and the other is lower, then no one is logged in under hubba's wife's nick...but someone is screwin' with y'all.

According to the member's list there is only one hotmom0521 listed. I just checked the profile of the hotmom0521 that has been posting and it clearly states under the profile that she is Hubbster's wife. Go get 'em Hub! It is clear that you are being hacked.

well actually we changed the profile to include the marital part just tonight...but the fact that we were able to log onto it, shows who's name it is

what'chu talk'n bout fuzzis? I only see one username "hotmom" in member list.
I didn't get that far. I was just going off of hubba's original post where one was capitalized and the other was not.
fuzzis
Hubba, have your wife to try to log in now and change her password.

If you could log in, then you probably weren't hacked. The passwords are saved in the database so that they are encrypted. If an account is hacked, the person has to request a password change (and have access to the email address on file) or hack into the database and completely delete the old password since it looks like jibberish (much harder). In addition, if they get into the database, they would go after a member that has admin priviledges.

This all sounds fishy to me... do we have bugs or spyders :smt102 :smt102

All I am saying is this: when I logged in around 9 tonight, hotmom0521 whom my wife created but had never posted on, was logged in and was making posts. The number of posts increased from around 22 to 39 by the time I posted "Imposter Alert". Like I said, to people who know us, the password was predictable (I didn't create it), but its changed now.
There's only two people that I know of who knew hotmom0521's real identify, but neither of them would have any reason to get onto the screenname, having screennames of their own.

so where was your wife at 9 pm or around 9 pm.. maybe she was posting and not telling you.. :smt102 . im kinda confused i dont see why someone would hack a HOTMOM:smt102
noway
11-18-2005, 12:14 AM
what would someone gain for hacking the hotmom? and if someone did wouldnt they start posting bad things or stirring the pot.. where did 39 posts come from i dont remember seeing but a few posts by hotmom..
just plain fishy to me.. :smt102
where is thedoc at tonight?
noway
11-18-2005, 12:15 AM
i didnt know thedoc had posted and he appears.. thedoc are you hacking ?

I'm with noway on this one. If someone were hacking or imposting they sure were real nice about it. I didn't see anything derogatory posted by the "imposter".

If the password was easy to guess, I'd say it was someone who knew hub, but it is curious that they did bother to post anything out of the ordinary.

Ok I have something to say about this. I have signed with AOL on here and didn't not sign my name off MyHattiesburg. Then go back and look on MyHattiesburg on explorer and see my name still signed on. Point being if you dont go and log yourself off and you dont lose your internet connection then your name will still be signed on. Like right now if I just close the page out without logging out and then come back and look I will see my name still signed in. :smt102 Unless I turn my computer off.
noway
11-18-2005, 01:46 AM
Correct sxy lady.. but see if you dont have activity for 15 minutes then you will be signed out. Now if the HOTMON signed in 15 minutes before 9 pm and posted something then hubba looked at 859.. its only been 14 minutes and there was an imposter.. I still think something is really fishy.. so exactly who was signed in at 9pm or around 9.. :smt102

No Noway hun. I have went to bed, got up went to work and came home and looked on myhattiesburg and my name still be signed on. DUNNO maybe my computer is special. LOL :smt102 :smt038 :smt119 :p

well sxy lady if you come back and check later and see you still signed on maybe you have an imposter on here.. you might want to change your password..
:smt117 :chicken: :smt063 :eusa_booh :hidesofa:
When you log in, there's a box beside that to check, says something like "remember me". When I log in, I check that and NEVER have to log in again unless I clear my cookies. Doesn't matter if I leave the computer for an hour or a day, or whether I turn my computer off or not.
Could be that the imposter tried various passwords until the correct one was guessed and posted under hotmom's name just to get hubba riled up. Just a thought.

OK, let me elaborate further. I logged on my name around 6 pm while my was was in her evening class. I picked her up around 630 and we were home shortly before 7. The only computer that we have at home is a laptop, which when not used, we keep in its carrying case. My wife and I watched O'Reilly until she got tired of him and kicked me out of the room and rested. I went and played my old Sega Genesis for an hour, and then took the computer out of its carrying case, plugged it up, logged on and saw hotmom0521 logged on and having had made posts. My wife was in the living room with no access to a computer. I don't understand what the motive would be for posting what was posted either. However, it is clear that someone was on the account from somewhere without my wife's permission. That's the bottom line.

Hub, why don't you let her create a new account with a more difficult password that only she knows? Then delete the hotmom name if possible.

11-18-2005, 11:27 AM
well I think it was an inside job had to be.. My question is why did the hubba family freak out... Maybe if they would have thought for a minute and looked at everything they might have figured it out. So when mr hubba went to play the video game, I think mrs hubba signed on and was caught or maybe she was hacked by the bugs or spyders. Or maybe mr hubba was caught and then hacked by mrs hubba. :smt102

Ya'll come on....we're big enough people that we can share a computer at home. She doesn't really get on that much. Besides, I only use dial-up at the house so only one of us could be online at the same time anyway.
I can say for certainty, that it was not an inside job. Hotmom0521 was logged on and making posts at the time I logged on. The only computer in the house was the laptop I was using. My wife was in the living room away from any computer and I called her in when I saw it. After we discovered this, I was able to get onto the account and change the password to a less obvious name and the problem as of yet has not reappeared.

Aaron is there anyway you can check the ISQ's on hotmom0521 for last night? Obviously after around 930 or 10, it was logged on at the same IQ that was I logged on at. But check between the hours of 830 and 930 p.m and during the day prior to that (the first post was at around 1030 a.m., which is impossible b/c my wife was in the car with me at 1030 yesterday going to class). That should resolve any question as to where the log in was coming from.
Hubba, it sounds to me like someone figured out the password and used her account. Why? I have no idea. But if her password was a word or name rather than letters and numbers, it can be figured out. If it was someone that doesn't know you that did it, it would be time-consuming but not at all impossible, and considering the posts weren't flaming anybody, makes no sense as to why. But a lot of stuff that goes on on the internet doesn't make sense. I'm sure you and your wife both know what it makes for a strong password...letters that don't spell a word plus numbers. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

Good points, Nowey. Hubba should buy Ms Hubba a new laptop of her own for Christmas and not be so domineering and paranoid; Let the bird out of the cage now and then, huh? I bet Ole' Hub rules the roost, passionately. Ms Elle would tell be to stick it in my ear if I attempted such fundamentalist disipline and shadowing. :D
As I've learned over the past 4 + years, my wife is very capable to standing up for herself....

Thanks Hubba. Yeah, I joined a few days after Katrina, while I was staying in the delta with family. At some point during those first few days here, I told Noway that this place was addicting, and that I had found something to do on those nights when my insomnia was really bad. LOL

Hub: you said your wife is a student at USM? has she ever logged onto my hattiesburg from school? maybe it left her signed in or something..
I know Joe has posted under my name accidentally when he uses my computer..might be a long shot though...just a thought.

This is the real hotmom. Thank you to everyone for your suggestions. I took your advice, changed my password, popped a movie in, and went to bed. My husband, Hubba, was on the imposter kick. Talk about having a little too much free time on your hands. lol
