I wonder just how many people in Washington are pacing their offices, terrifed of what Abramoff has on them or people connected to them.

Abramoff Pleads Guilty to 5 Criminal Charges
# GOP lobbyist asks for forgiveness after admitting to fraud and tax evasion.

By Walter F. Roche Jr. and Richard B. Schmitt, Times Staff Writers

WASHINGTON -- Pleading for forgiveness from "the Almighty and those I have wronged," an ashen Jack A. Abramoff, once the most powerful lobbyist on Capitol Hill, stood before a federal judge today and pleaded guilty to a vast scheme of fraud and tax evasion that could send him to prison for nine to 30 years.

Abramoff now becomes the chief witness for the prosecution in its influence-peddling probe of Congress that some say presages the biggest corruption scandal on Capitol Hill in nearly three decades. It has already ensnared at least one member of Congress and two former congressional aides, and could now lead into unknown territory... I think in a year or so we'll see some seats in Congress, from both parties, open because of this. Any Congressperson who sells their vote, no matter how large or small the sum, should be drawn and quartered.

I know that the corruption aspect is why several of my friends don't vote. They laugh at me and say "Fuzzis, you don't matter when the government is controlled by people with more money than you or I can even begin to dream about." With things like the Abramoff scandal, it is difficult to not be cynical.

No matter how cynical I get, it's still hard to keep up. :-D

Well, it sounds like a lot of them should be worried! I just saw it on the news tonight. I'm glad that he's telling names because they don't need to get away with that. As voting citizens, the people have a right to know what their representatives are doing while holding an elected position.
