What are some Pine Belt area businesses that you frequented prior to Katrina that are no longer in business.

The first that comes to mind for me is Pascale's Photo & Frame shop. I had been doing business with them for about 4 years and always got exceptional first-class service. As I understand it the roof on their building failed and ruined most of their very expensive computer and reproduction equipment. I am really sorry to see them go, they pretty much wrote the book on customer service IMO.

The Apple Basket in Petal. My mother went there lots more than i ever did, but it was pretty neat. it's really sad when u go by there and see the metal/tin still wrapped around the tree to the left of the building where it's been since katrina put it there. my mom said she wanted to try to get in touch with the owner (i don't remember his name) to make sure he is okay as she said he had had major heart trouble not too long before katrina and find out if they are going to reopen. she doesn't think so because of his health and the money end of it.

also, Paul's Tire right before the tracks coming into Petal on Hwy 11. such a sad sight. really wish they would go ahead and clear the property off.

Mine would be the Shipley's on Westover. Now I have to make the trip down to Hardy, and my wife always trys to convince me to go to Krispy Kreme, that just isn't the same, but she usually always wins.

On another closing, though not in the Pine Belt, I am terribly upset that both Pirates Cove locations are now closed on the coast. The one on the beach is gone and the one on Hwy 49 in north gulfport has taken down it's signs. I am extremely upset that I will not get that awesome gravy dripping roast beef po-boy with a side of corn nuggets and a Barq's, in a bottle of course.

Also, I am sad to see that Harbor View Cafe in Pass Christian was taken away, my wife use to work there in high school and we would always go when we went down. We have heard rumors that some of the workers might open it back up, but a location has yet to be determined.

The Bunny Bread Store out on Hwy 42. Ugh! Now I have to pay full price for my bread.
