The "Heart of America" to me means those things we hold dear and the symbols of it. Those things that we're fighting to protect, supposedly. Perhaps Washington. Philadelphia. Boston. New York. The birthplaces of our ideals, even though two of them have already been hit.

In any case, I can't quite imagine Las Vegas as the heart of the country...geographically speaking. It's a bit far west for that (about 6 hours from the Pacific coast depending on how you drive it). Chicago would be closer, I think. St. Louis. Kansas City. Of those, I would say Chicago because of the financial market there.

I can't quite wrap my head around the notion that the tape is a fake. I don't like President Bush, but I don't think he is that dishonorable.

You know I put Vagas in dere to bait you. :-D But, Vagas does stand for loose money and unmentionables, so maybe that's were he thinks our heart is.

Not from Vegas, so not bait. :-D (Reno and Lake Tahoe are about 7-8 hours to the north east. When 9-11 happened and my students were terrified we were next, I told them not to worry. No one knew where we were to begin with :-D )

I think Kansas is the geographical center of the 48 contiguous states. Don't know where the center is of all the states, probably in the Pacific ocean somewhere.

I think he's speaking metaphorically when he says "heart", he probably could care less where geograpically is.

But I think the admin has it right to discount his latest threat. I think it's strictly propoganda BS to try to put a wedge in the American people when he also mentions a truce and says that the public wants a quick withdrawal. It also seems pretty coincidental that he released this message right after several of his top dogs got "blowed up real good ®". It almost seems like he's a little scared and he's trying a different approach of threatening us, but offering to back off if we'll go home. He use to only threaten us.

In any event, we can't back down right now, it's not the time. If he is scared, then that only means that we're breathing down his neck.

that world, because they'd never expect it."

"If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them."
- Jack Handy

"Instead of trying to build newer and bigger weapons of destruction, we should be thinking about getting more use out of the ones we already have."

Osama's a loon. I love Jack Handy. Ahh... those Deep Thoughts.
Why does OBL insist on releasing a video telling us that he's going to attack us? Is it to thumb his nose tauntingly at the President and the military? I agree that the heart of the country is a reference to cities and landmarks we hold dear. Statue of Liberty, Washington DC, Empire State Building, etc. However, OBL knows that economics play a huge part in the American system, and any potential strike will probably target a structure with human and economic value. Remember buying stocks after 9/11 to help the market? I still have those... a company that makes helicopter rotors and guided missile parts... a good investment.

Anywho... maybe one day OBL will die. Or perhaps he'll be like Tupac and release videos from beyond the grave for decades to come.

My favorite Deep Thought:

Boxing is alot like ballet. Except there's no music. And the dancers hit each other.
