Did anyone pay attention to this (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-canada24jan24,0,4539538.story?coll=la-headlines-world)? Think that the new conservative minority will have any impact on us here in the US? From what I understand because it's a minority victory, there's not much chance that the new government will be able get much reform done, and there will probably be another electioin in 18 months. (the way Canadian elections work is interesting to me)

Sorry...the link should be right now.
The fear (at least among my Canadian friends...I post on another board and last night it was interesting watching them discuss the returns and what it means for them) is that the new leader *is* a Bush yes man, but as it is only a minority victory, none of them are quite sure what they're going to be able to get done. That frustration, according to my friends, will lead to another election in about 18 months.

I am, for one, thrilled that the Conservative have won in Canada. It is time that someone besides Tony Blair on the world scene not be outwardly anti-American in their rhetoric. Canada has trended very far to the left on both economic, social, and moral issues in recent years, and i hope that this election will check that trend.
