Although the movie's plot is lucicrous, I love the scene at the end of Heartbreak Hotel where Charlie Sclaetter performs with "Elvis' at a high school talent competition he'd been banned from. Oh, my - I was a freshman at Mississippi College when the King died!! My roommate and I cut afternoon classes just to watch all the hoop-la.
i found out i was pregnant with my oldest son the day after he died.....

I remember reading that Ronnie Musgrove cut short his honeymoon to go to Memphis after Elvis died.....now I love Elvis's music as much as anyone, but I would have NEVER done that on my honeymoon, that's going just a bit too far.

I vaguely just remember the TV stations in Memphis deluging the airwaves with Elvis movies right after he died and still remember listening to "Elvis in Concert" in vinyl for years thereafter (which is hard to find now except online). His physical appearance was so terrible that thankfully RCA has never released the CBS TV special of those performances on VHS or DVD.
