Three bills (http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060131/NEWS01/60131006) dealing with whether a mayor has to resubmit his appointments once he is re-elected dies today in committee.

Of all the things the mayor has or hasn't done, this ticks me off the most. The law says he has to do it, the AG says he has to do it, the only setback is that the law doesn't set a time frame in which to do it. However, it's painfully obvious that it should be done near the beginning of an administration else the law makes no sense. But instead of living with the intent of the law, he instead decides to act childish and find technicalities and loopholes to get around it, simply because he's afraid of the results he'll get.

He obviously knows it's not right. Mayor, get off your butt, put them up like the law intended for you to do, let the procedure run it's course, and if the council doesn't approve all your people find someone else and move on. The council is right on this one - live with the concept that that will happen from time to time and get on with business.

He's already said that the one's in question were his friends and they needed the jobs. To me, that's just wrong to put your personal feelings above the needs and well being of the whole city. This will only get worse. Hattiesburg is gone.

No doubt, how many homicides and aggravated assaults have there been in the last month or so...

Hopefully people will finally be fed up and not vote for him if he runs again. Some of the things that have happened in this city since he has become mayor are INSANE
