I'll tell you what I don't like about it. It's so easily made. So why would Conoco or BP pay big money for something they can already easily figure out how to make themselves? The second thing I don't like is that the government is behind ethanol and batteries.

As far as the company goes, I couldn't find the symbol or company publicly traded on the stock market. Maybe someone could help out there.

The Willie Nelson Biodiesel Company
The Biodiesel Venture GP, LLC partnership was established in December of 2004. The idea is to do something useful towards eliminating America's dependence on foreign oil, help put the the American family farmer back to work and clean up the environment we live in.
Distribution Drive, distributor of Willie Nelson Biodiesel, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Earth Biofuels, Inc (http://www.earthbiofuels.net/). Earth Biofuels is a publicly traded company under the ticker symbol EBOF.OB (http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ebof.ob)

I read an article a few months ago about a study that some univeristy did on production of biodiesel. It seems that when all the hoopla is taken away, it actually takes more energy to produce the biodiesel than the fuel gives back. In other words (these are not exact figures) it may take 10,000 btu to produce 9,000 btu of fuel.

If this is true, then it would really depend on what fuel source one uses to create the biodiesel. If one used wind, solar, or hydro power, then it wouldn't be a big deal since all those are renewable. However, if one used a hydrocarbon based fuel to produce another hydrocarbon based fuel, then you'd wind up with a net loss in hydrocarbons.

Basically, it all boils down to this is a technology in it's infancy. Even though people have been making it for quite a while, the technology to make it efficiently and cost-effectively may still not be here yet.

I guess it's all in how you like to gamble. At the price of that stock, if the company and biodiesel does take off, you could make a fortune, but you could also loose 10% of your money in a day just off the stock dropping a few cents. As for me, I'd hold back until a clear winner develops in the alternative fuel market.

I wish somebody around here sold biodiesel, I'd certainly run it in my truck. I've been on to biodiesel for a while, but there are no outlets here. A good website for more info is www.biodiesel.org

PS; That webiste you linked shows retailing in the following;
Jackson, Kosciusco, Pearl, and Redbanks, MS (wherever that is).
Appears Dickerson Oil is the only MS franchisee thus far.

Yeah, that's more than they use to have. I'm not sure what grade of biodiesel they sell. My research tells me that 100% bio is fine to run. You might go through a couple of fuel filters at first because of its cleansing properties, depending on how old and gunked up your engine is. I think Ford will void my warranty if I use anything above a 10% mix, but I'd have to pull out my manual to double check that. I've also read that "Big Oil" is one of the main reasons that biodiesel marketing is so slow in the US. They stand to lose a lot of profit initially when petroleum is not needed as much. I've read documented cases of Big Oil buying huge tracts of land that were to be developed for biodiesel crops just to hinder biodiesel's advancement and availability. It's just another way that oil companies have to keep hold of the American consumer by the *****. Of course, with Chrysler shipping their Jeep Liberty diesel unit from the factory with I believe a B20 blend, positive steps are being taken...just baby steps.

Hawk you should check out Senate Bill 2942 to require a blend of 2% minimum bio in all diesel sold in MS. It's still alive in the Senate this session.

Have you been watching the stock climb, daily (EBOF)? Could have more than doubled money in past week. Thinking seriously about my first stock purchase.

No, I haven't really been watching, maybe I should...
