I wanted to share with the members of MyHattiesburg that I got a new puppy. She is 10 weeks old, and weighs 2.08 lbs. She is actually kinda fat and waddles when she walks. Her name is Nahla because she pounces on everything, and even when she runs she pounces around.

I know how meaningful pets are and how much joy and happiness they bring us. I just hope that we can get through the "kennel training" stage! I would like to hear about other people's pets. If you have a dog and have had it since a puppy, what was your method of house breaking?

What a cute puppy!! Just look at that adorable face.

No house breaking methods here...we'll probably get a puppy this spring so I'll be interested in hearing these tips as well.

What a cute puppy southernbelle... For house training I have trained two dachsunds and it was pretty easy.. I would take them both out at the same time and walk around with them until they were finshed and showing them love bringing them back inside. To me its more of instinct and the smell.. The puppy pads help out until they are fully trained.. I love my pets....

Congratulations Southern Belle. She's adorable. What kind of puppy is she? Looks like a cockerspaniel in the picture.

QM... she is cocker spaniel and she has some jack russell in her. A lady who breeds cocker's has a neighbor with a rat terrier. They got together and bam! = Nahla! We adopted her because she looks nothing like rat terrier! Everything about her is cocker spaniel except for her tail. The owner did not have them clipped, so she has a long tail that she wags constantly!!!! She has the best personality and is so playful! We love her! :dog:

ahhh shes soooooooooooo cute! with my fabulous pup, riley, we tried the crate thingy but it just didnt work. so we put him on a schedule with going outside...at first it was hard but he had to fall into a pattern. we also put those puppy pads down that designated where he was to go to the bathroom if he went in the house. now he mostly waits til we let him out and if not then he goes on teh pads...sometimes he misses a little or he will have an accident somewhere but its usually VERY rare! it just takes time...im sure you will do fine...btw did i mention how adorable she is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

SouthernBelle, she's the most adorable puppy I've seen in a long time. Best of luck to you with the house training.

Southern Belle....consistency and patience......for sure right when she wakes up in a.m. or a nap and before bedtime for the night. Also, some dogs seem to "go" right after they eat. You may watch how long after her meal....?? She is a very precious little thing....BEST of all and most importantly.....ALL the love you can give...you will be rewarded with the most unconditional, faithful and loyal love in return!!!

Thank you guys all so much with the advice. We are trying and she is doing much better. We can catch her most of the time and take her out. She just requires constant supervision.

Thanks for all the advice though!

so you guys i was out of town for a week (all last week) and i am so upset. Nahla is so much bigger and I feel like i missed so much of her life. she learned to go to the door to go outside and use the bathroom. she also learned that when you come inside she gets a treat for taking care of business in the right place, because she sits at the door and waits for you to give her her treat. she can now go up the stairs and jump down off of the couch. she learned to play fetch, so she can actually find the object and bring it back to you. i can only let out a big sigh of sadness. however, she is still so little and cute, and brings happiness to my life.
