So, ladies of myhbg...I am in need of a hairstylist. Since I moved here a year and a half ago, I've tried a few places here, but they have either screwed my color up, butchered the cut, overcharged me ($85 to touch up my roots...no haircut involved), or all three. I've been going to see my cousin when I visit the Grand-Sner, but that's not going to happen for another couple of months. (it's an 11 hour drive)

Suggestions?

My wife recently went to Studio C on 40th to have a style and dye. She usually does the dye herself, but wanted to try blonde out and a shorter cut. I must say, it is the best cut she's ever gotten, and the color is great. When she got her hair cut (once a year or so), she'd try the different chain places, but always got uncaring results. Let's face it, someone who cares about the job they do is important. The lady's name was Laura something... she doesnt' remember the last name...

try KITTY`S HAIR 4356 linclon rd. 601-296-6897. they fixed my wife`s hair and it turned out really great. the best cut she has had in a long time. don`t remember the cost, but it wasn`t too bad.

Fuz, I would recommend seeing Crystal at Panache. It's located right behind the mall. She's been doing my hair for at least three years now. She's the only person I trust to highlight my hair. I can get you the number if you're interested. She's wonderful!!

Can I just say that I find it really, really funny that while my first post specifically referenced "ladies" only one female has answered.

Y'all have some gender identification problems?

Cook's Barber Shop, 10 bucks. Also, you can get some Baskin-Robbins on your way out! :)

Fuzzis,
I like Salon West. Teresa is great (she knows a lot about color and cuts). Tracy is also good (and she's a little less expensive than Teresa). I have let both of them highlight and cut my hair.

I used to go to Cooks, but ever since Chris left, I don't. He left during one of my grow-my-hair-out phases, and I have no idea if he's still barbering... Right now I'm a man without a barber... *sigh*

Thanks Coley and Monkey. I'm not very picky about my hair...I just want it to look good. One place I went here supposedly touched up my roots and when she was done, there was no difference. Another place, did nothing to blend my layers and left me about two inches hanging down in the back...just there, and because I'm oblivious, I didn't notice it until my cousin spun me around and said, "Fuzzis, what is this crap back here?" And then there was the place that got the color right but charged me $85 for it.

I just want to not worry about it. Right now it's not very complicated. Last time my cousin did my hair, we toned it down so the growth wouldn't be as noticeable (although I miss the old color), and we got rid of the highlights. Simple long layers. You would think that it wouldn't be too difficult to do. Kind of like, you would think it wouldn't be too difficult to wax someone's eyebrows. (that's another post, but if you know someone that's good at that, feel free to pass that along as well)

I've never had any problems at Salon West and Tracy also does an excellent job on the eyebrows! That's a scary thought to get those screwed up! :smt119

I recommend Shelly or Laura at Studio C. Shelly has cut, colored, styled my hair since I was in high shcool and does great. Laura cuts my moms and daughters hair and is also great. Not one complaint with either.

I go to Alicia at Designing Hair by villies. Haircut and color- about $50. I have also used the Downtown tonisorial parlor. Very nice aveda salon. Not to pricey but sometimes hard to get an appointment. I used to go to Nicki at the Salon del Sol in Petal. she was hard to get an appointment with, but she was really good.

Leslie at Salon 38 is one of the best in town. He is the owner and is in pretty big demand. I'd call at least 2 or 3 weeks in advance. He's worth the wait, cause he's got my woman looking fine.

I thought the same thing when my wife told me he was a guy. He is a really cool guy and has a very sucessful business.

I'd be a little nervous if I went to see a guy named Dion for the first time but that stereotype isn't fair to some of these guys. They may be laughing all the way to the bank because I would trade W2's with Leslie anyday.

ahh, that's where chris is now, I was wondering. I've been going out to the guy in Bellevue, i forget his name at the moment, but he only charges $6 and has a pretty cool collection of badges and old tools, a lot like Mickey's. If you're out that way it's worth it.

Oh yeah, my wife goes to Studio C now, she use to drive to gulfport to go to chuck kelley, but she finally found a good one at studio c, i forget her name though, but as long as my wife is happywith her hair, that's all that matters.

My husband and son go to Bob Morrow's on Timothy Lane. Right down the road from Hi Hat 2000

Bob... Yeah, I remember before he had that heart attack, smokin that pipe while he cut your hair. That's where I had my first hair cut, in that green viynal cair, w/ the booster seat, and the super bubble bubble gum. My mom actually helped operate on him.
