What's your favorite comfort food?

Since it's been cold, and I've been stressed, I've been dying for some clam chowder. Not making it, though, because there's no way I'll eat all of it, and I'm not good with left-overs. While not related to the cold, I could really go for some of the Grand-Sner's german chocolate cake frosting (not the cake...just the frosting). I have the recipe, but making it myself isn't the same.

QM--I've been working out, and it's finally starting to kick in. Didn't go this morning bcause I'm exhausted (and sick), but I will be up tomorrow and at it again.

Could really go for a bowl of clam chowder with some Boudin sourdough bread.

Hope you feel better soon, Fuzzis. Does Crescent City have clam chowder? I'm not a seafood eater, so I'm not sure who might have it.

Oh, what about Quizznos? I know they have several soups - the Broccoli is fantastic!

It's kind of one of those things where you like your own brew. If there were someone around other than me and the cats (the only people foods they eat are ice cream, yogurt, and cheerios), I'd make it. Cooking for one sucks.

Gummy Bears! :-D

I always felt a little...perverse...eating gummy bears, what with their little faces and hands and all. Gummy worms on the other hand...:-D

Since I"m trying to lose this collection of body fat, I'm going to graciously boycott this thread. I'm very proud that I scrolled all the way to the bottom without reading past clam chowder in fuzzis post. I will succeed.

QM...speaking of Mexican food as comfort food...I have an excellent pinto bean and cheese enchillada recipe that is really, really good for you. (low fat, high fiber) And Amy's Organics makes a black bean and vegetable enchillada that's also incredibly good.

Anything cheesy or potatoes...mashed, baked, fried...you name it, as long as it's not potato salad. Right now I could go for a huge bowl of mashed potatoes with a generous portion of Velveeta melted on top.

Up until now, we've been fortunate the flu hasn't been widespread, but I think it's going around more now. My daughter came home from school sick yesterday. Today I fell asleep on the couch around 2 pm and didn't wake up until 6, not like me to sleep that long, and then I woke up freezing. (Not a good sign.) While I was asleep, my oldest son called from college, saying he was at work, was sick, and needed to track down one of his brothers to come pick him up. Poor thing, he goes full-tilt all day long and into the night, what with school, volunteering at the high school 2 days a week, and work, and when he gets sick, it hits him hard. I always feel so bad when one of them is sick and I'm not there to fill them with comfort food.

Comfort food...chicken and sausage gumbo. My wife made a huge pot tonight and I can still smell it throughout the house. Now that's comfort food.

CB - try the Weight Watchers Ice Cream Sandwiches - they are wonderful - my treat every night for sticking with the program!!!

QM - Not that I have ever actually been on WW, but several years ago a friend of mine was and some of us at work made a copy of her books and decided we would have a little competition amongst ourselves as to who could loose the most. We all put $$$ into the pot every week and at the end (I don't remember how many weeks we did it) we would get out money back and be able to by new clothes in smaller sizes.

the one thing I remember is making my own ice cream sandwiches, using cool whip and graham crackers. WOW!!! what a treat and not as expensive as buying WW or other low fat/calorie items.

As for me I find comfort in anything chocolate
