BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik required lifesaving surgery after severing his carotid artery, his agent told The Associated Press on Monday.
Zednik was in stable condition while recovering at a Buffalo hospital after losing a significant amount of blood during Sunday's game at Buffalo, agent David Schatia said. Schatia didn't have further details because he had just arrived in Montreal following a trip oversees.

Zednik was sliced across the right side of the throat by teammate Olli Jokinen's skate in a frightening accident midway through the third period of Buffalo's 5-3 victory.

Canada's Sportsnet cable-TV network reported on its Web site that the skate blade just missed cutting the jugular vein.
I guess we need to change the headline from Jugular vein to Carotid Artery. That's even worse than Jugular.

It's the broadcast of Sports Center, Dollfus. it's not bad at all. Trust me. They are shooting from far away, so all you can see is the guy with his leg up in the air, and the other guy kind of jumping back a bit... that's it.

I love ice hockey too. I don't go for the fighting though. It's a great sport. Faster than basketball and as rough as football. I guess you could compare it to basketball on ice. Set up, run plays, shoot and score or block. And very few rules. Easy to follow.

No, it's like soccer on ice... too low scoring for me.

I never got the complaints about low scores. If a touchdown in football wasn't worth 6 points you'd have some pretty low scores in that game as well.

True... Never really thought about it, but you don't need to take 4 guys off the football team in order for the other team to score... now, maybe if it's old miss or something...

I never really got that. I still dont' get it. I don't think I want to get it.
