    Hubcap Man passes away

I don't remember what his last name is, but Walter the Hubcap man on E. Hardy died yesterday of a heart attack. Walter was a very nice person and could always make you laugh. Do any of you remember when he used to do the TV adds for MMM furniture? He was dressed up kinda like superman with the cape and such. That was funny. Prayers going out to his family and friends.

    Re: Hubcap Man passes away

Walter was actually the lifelong partner of Jim Gibbons of WDAM. Walter was on the original McCaffrey's showtime- a live show in the 60's on channel 7. He played piano I think- was a really nice guy with a great sense of humor. And thanks for remembering the tv ads in the cape- LOL- see what I mean? Life is too short to be so serious. May he rest in peace.
Sulley: Hey, Mike, this might sound crazy but I don't think that kid's dangerous.
Mike: Really? Well, in that case, let's keep it. I always wanted a pet that could kill me.

For the past couple of years I had coffee with him and the rest of the gang at Mom and Dads every morning. He will be missed.

Will miss this ole fellow, never spoke with him when he wasn't smiling. Just saw him a few days ago in that custom caddy he drove.

I want to say Hensarling. But I'm not certain. I do know that he was related to the Hensarlings from Runnelstown.

I am so glad you asked this - I was wanting to ask the same question, but didn't wanna get jumped..

I worked at a local grocery store in Petal for a fews years and saw him frequently buying groceries. One of the managers told me he had a "partner." But I must say that he was always cheerful, brining a smile to most everyone's face.

He was a very happy person. He will be missed by a lot of people that has crossed his path over the years. He loved him some cadillacs. I hope it is a nice one that takes him to his final resting place.

Someone asked what his last name was, it was Brewer.

    Re: Hubcap Man passes away

Walter was a trip. He was so precious with his cell phone hanging down and buying his bingo cards. The man DID love his bingo. Was quite lucky at it too. I remember the commercials too. MMM with that superman like costume on. He did seem to be ALWAYS happy. CityGirl, I am going to check tomorrow but I believe there were 2 families (different ones) named Hensarling from the Runnelstown area. The eldest uncle of the one I know of still lives in Runnelstown and is like 93 years old. I think his son may have moved onto his property to help take care of him but he still drives to church every Sunday. We need to compare and see if you are talking about the same family.

I'll always remember Walter playing piano on McCaffrey Show Time. He would lay down on the seat, play upside down, and never miss a note.

Then Randy Swan would come out and sing Hound Dog. Ugh!

Thanks- my boss said the same thing yesterday. Wow- the memories of small town Hattiesburg- haha! We have certainly had our share of characters around this area over the years.

How sad. My family has known Walter for many many years. He was a very nice man. I remember him from McCaffrey Showtime as well.
