    Oil to popcorn ratio?

Seems like a silly question I know but since the invention of microwave popcorn I haven't a clue to the right answer.

I borrowed a theater style popcorn machine for an event I'm having but didn't need 250 packs (or whatever) of the oil/popcorn packs from Sam's that you would generally use in them.

I have oil and I have popcorn. Does anybody know what the oil to popcorn ratio would be?

2 oz in the 8 oz kettle. If it is a different kettle size post back. I have those ratios as well.

Get an 8-10 oz. cup and fill it with popcorn. Put 1/4 cup of oil in the kettle. Get the oil hot first then pour in the popcorn. 2 spoons of the salt in there. Perfect popcorn.

I don't know how to work one of those, big poppers, but I've got an old Stir Crazy Popper, that makes the best popcorn. I haven't had microwave popcorn in years. After not seeing these for years, I've seen them in Walmart lately. Great for family's with youngsters, so is Jiffypop. just kind a brings back memories and makes a few memories. I call it the George Jetson Popper cause it looks like his car.

Sprinkle some Tony Chachere's on top of the popcorn. It gives a nice cajun touch to any dish!

Also, try garlic salt instead of regular salt.

    Re: Oil to popcorn ratio?

Use Bacon Grease or Lard for even more flavor. Buy some cheap mac & cheese just for the seasoning pack (u can save the elbow pasta for soemthing elses ) which you just sprinkle on in place of the salt for great cheesy popcorn...

I've bought six of these to spread around the family.... You are so right... no more microwave corn for me.... this little beauty makes the closest to 'show popcorn' I can find and is a breeze to clean up --- no mess is best!

Hmm, need a snack right now!!!

    Re: Oil to popcorn ratio?

Heres all ya need for good popcorn everytime, as long as your popcorn itself is fresh! Heat lard/bacon grease/butter, add kernels, place lid or plate over it, shake till popping slows almost to a stop, then remove lid, pour in big bowl, season however you like, & enjoy. Anything else is just a waste of storage space & extra junk to keep up with though many of them do the one thing they were designed for well. Oh yeh if you need more popcorn use a bigger pot or reverse for a smaller serving.

My son turned me onto this this past weekend at his Batchelor pad at school and it was quite tasty, I'll be giving it a try next time I'm at the store.
