Thumbs up Best Christmas Lights Display in the Hattiesburg Area --

This is the first nomination thread for the "Best of" contests. If you haven't read about this, here's Mod's post explaining it. (Also quoted at the bottom of this post.) http://www.myhattiesburg.com/forums/...35#post1595535

The first contest is for the best Christmas lights display in the area. "The area" means Hattiesburg and anywhere up to approximately 30 miles outside of town. That way we can include Petal, Sumrall, etc.

You can nominate a business, a specific neighborhood, etc. that has a nice display of Christmas lights that others may want to go check out. Nominate them by simply putting the name and location in a post. You can nominate as many as you want, but make separate posts for each one. Anyone who wants to vote for that display can do so by "thanking" the post.

Sometime Monday I'll check to see which places have been nominated and received the most votes, and those will be put into a poll.

Mac has agreed to head this up. She'll start a thread in the Pine Belt Forum asking for nominations in the category of the moment. Any member of MH can make a nomination by stating it in a post. If you agree with that nomination, then thank the post, no need to make an additional post. We'll let the nomination process run for a few days (to be determined as we go along), then the nominations will close. The posts/nominations with the most thanks will make the final cut.

After that a thread and poll will be created in the Public Opinion Poll area where members and guests can vote on the top few nominations. The number of nominations may vary from poll to poll just due to the nature of category. This is another of those things that will be worked out as we go along.

We intend to do a couple of these a month. We have a list of the categories that we'll be voting on but it's not finalized so any suggestions on that are welcome.

I definitely say Lewis lights are the biggest display. Plus, they're steeped in history.

Another one that comes to mind is one of Fantom's neighbors, relatively speaking. I don't want to put his name out there but he lives off of South Lake Road and he has a lot of lights in yard and his house.

I'm going to nominate Kamper Park just to give some more options.
I am happier with my brain. Definitely.

There is a little stretch of Carnes Rd that is on the Brooklyn side and it's right off the hwy. You'll actually be able to see it from the road once you turn off of 49
2351 Carnes Road is what I come up with on Google. Hope that is right.
