Thumbs up Best Burger in the Hattiesburg Area --

This is a nomination thread for the "Best of" contests. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, look at the bottom of this post where I've quoted Mod's explanation.)

Where is the best burger in the area?

"The area" means Hattiesburg and anywhere up to approximately 30 miles outside of town.

Nominate a place by simply putting the name in a post. You can nominate as many as you want, but make separate posts for each one. Anyone who wants to vote for that restaurant/bar can do so by "thanking" the post.

Sometime Monday I'll check to see which places have been nominated and received the most votes, and those will be put into a poll.

Mac has agreed to head this up. She'll start a thread in the Pine Belt Forum asking for nominations in the category of the moment. Any member of MH can make a nomination by stating it in a post. If you agree with that nomination, then thank the post, no need to make an additional post. We'll let the nomination process run for a few days (to be determined as we go along), then the nominations will close. The posts/nominations with the most thanks will make the final cut.

After that a thread and poll will be created in the Public Opinion Poll area where members and guests can vote on the top few nominations. The number of nominations may vary from poll to poll just due to the nature of category. This is another of those things that will be worked out as we go along.

We intend to do a couple of these a month. We have a list of the categories that we'll be voting on but it's not finalized so any suggestions on that are welcome.

I like Coney Island, (had a burger from there yesterday) but I think Bakers is better.

Ward's at least puts chili on their pink slime burgers. If you believe you are being served a never frozen, pure black angus, no additives, no lips, no hoof, no scraps, hamburger, you still believe in Santa. Why do you think some placed have "special sauce?"

I have to go with the Ward's big one or lil one. I must bring Junior in Petal a can of that skyline Cincinnati chili next time I go that way. Nasty stuff there...someone got the chili powder and the cinnamon mixed up.

Mugshots is good, but most of their food comes from sysco.

I liked shady acres(which is being rebuilt) and the hamburger house in mize.

    I love sysco cheesesticks...
I know the potato salad comes from sysco because we had it at every FFA banquet I ever attended, and I am stick of it for life lol.

I love Mugshot's buns, and how they put the mayo on and then the chopped red onions. And I love the fried mushrooms.

I'm not supposed to have that kind of stuff anymore, but this thread is really making me want to cheat and go get a burger.

Aside from mugshots ( I think we have established mugshots in the burger heirarchy ) I think bakers is awesome.

But thats just me... some of you will chime in on how much it sucks just because I like it. I look forward to it.

Mugshots is in the old Alumni House building on 40th Ave. It's pretty close to the Grand Theater. Baker's is across from CVS pharmacy (I think it is that pharmacy) at the intersection of 49 and 98 to the best of my memory. I've only eaten there once. I hated it! Only because Pantalones liked it. ROR! Just kidding. I liked it. I like food period. About the only restaurant I don't like a whole lot is Olive Garden. I once had a meal delivered to me that was still partially frozen. I prefer my food made from scratch if possible.

I like Bakers, really a great burger, and loads of fries. But they are kind of expensive to me.... I know Mugshots costs a bit more, but you don't stand up to order there and the fries are much better (to me).

This is not killing my desire for a dang hamburger.... Diabetes, diabetes, diabetes....
