    Re: Snowstorm 2014.

I'm finally warm. Thanks to a Dearborn heater. Sleet sucks, and it's still coming down. Had run the heater in the car for 10 minutes to melt all that crap off. My only employee called to tell me it's too cold to go to work. Can't think of anything else to b*tch about now, so I'mma go outside and smoke a cigarette and see why that cop is parked down the block. Did the zombie apocalypse start & nobody told me? Be back to b*tch more later.

I'm hungry, but I don't want to drive, and I don't want to cause some minimum wage delivery driver on the road either.

    Re: Snowstorm 2014.

They sent my husband home from work. He called and said he was doing 12 mph. So he should be home in an hour. lol As long as he keeps it between the ditches. He reminded me we dropped the collision coverage on his truck, so no pressure.

Agreed, I'm doubting we get much snow this far down.

There's at least an inch of snow in my yard right now. With the main "snow" event predicted to start four hours from now (5 pm per WDAM) I think it's safe to call it a snow event!

Glad I bought enough groceries to last me until Thursday.

    Re: Snowstorm 2014.

I thought about leaving early today, but my car is covered in sleet again, and I dread going out there to turn it on & let it thaw. I guess I could stay here tonight, but I don't have food. I already ate the antique T.V. dinner I found in the freezer, and the turkey bacon I found in the fridge. (What the hell was turkey bacon doing in the fridge??)

    Day 1:

    Dear Diary,

I walked to the garage to get something out of my truck. My shoes are damp, but we are still warm and healthy....

    Re: Snowstorm 2014.

Unless you absolutely have to get on the roads, just stay home today. It's still really bad and it's already been a rough couple of days for first responders. Hopefully, it'll melt off enough in the few hours we have above freezing this afternoon for road crews to make some progress. I'm guessing conditions are still going to be fairly rough tomorrow morning as well.

Wonder what those smart ass Northern folks who make fun of Mississippi when it snows would have some smart ass comment about 98 degrees and 100& humidity.

Or what Minnesota would do with a hurricane...

We're broke enough without having to buy snowplows that would rust out and fall apart between uses.

    Re: Snowstorm 2014.

We could have a few sander bodies... they slide into the back of dump trucks. Fill them with a sand/salt mixture. Get them out on the major roads before the storm and it prevents the ice from sticking. During and after it allows the roads to melt down to the mid 20's.

The sander bodies can last a good long time. One stockpile of road salt can sit in the corner of the yard until needed, then they can mix it with sand and load them up.

Plus, some rock salt for sidewalks is easy enough for folks to use. But, you can't even buy it around here.

Doesn't have to be expensive. The problem is it happens so seldom the systems aren't in place to handle it when it does.
