Really powerful hurricane headed towards Mexico, Patricia.

This hurricane, and other systems, will bring us a lot of rain. It appears poised to wreak havoc.

Looks pretty nasty. I've got an old buddy on vacation in Puerto Vallarta. I think he's a fool for not getting out of Mexico. He definitely doesn't have his piece with him and if we thought people acted crazy/the government was slow to respond here...

Re: Really powerful hurricane headed towards Mexico, Patricia.

They're saying this is the strongest hurricane ever recorded. My question was, if it's going to cross Mexico, isn't it just going to end up in the gulf and get stronger? The hope is that it is weakened by the mountains when it crosses. Still, if this is actually the strongest hurricane ever, it seems like there's at least a chance of it ending up in the gulf. Remember how big Katrina was and how far inland it went in before it broke up? It covered everything from Texas to Florida and all the way up to Tennessee on the radar. Is there no worry about this ending up in the gulf and strengthening further or reorganizing if it gets broken up while crossing Mexico toward the gulf?

Highest sustained wind speeds and lowest pressure ever recorded. http://www.weather.com/storms/hurric...a-mexico-coast

Apparently the mountains are going to really cause it to break up quickly. While regeneration is possible in the Gulf, wind shear will inhibit that a lot.

We are going to be seeing a lot of rain I believe. Even though it's been dry, we may see flooding.

I probably wouldn't want to be within 100 miles of landfall for that one.

Geez - 200 mph by an earlier report, Mexico is gonna get messed up real good.

On a plus note for the Mexican govt in terms of cost - they probably won't get in any hurry to repair anything outside of tourist areas. I still remember all of the utility poles with no wires lining the roads down in Cozumel outside of the port area.

Track is too far North to get in the gulf.

It wiped out a small town resulting in about $1000.00 in damage.
