Would be great for the "BURG"...

I wish the Burg could get these businesses to come here..

    Burlington Coat Factory

    Dave and Buster's.

    The Cheese Cake Factory.

And of course always a 'German Restaurant".

What would you like to see open up a New Business here in the "BURG"???

And PLEASE don't say more Mexican or Japanese Places. I truly believe this town has way to many of each . Don't see how half of them manage to stay in business...

I agree, Dave and Buster's would be a lot of fun. It's a place that everyone tends to enjoy. I think it would do great business in Hattiesburg. There aren't any arcades in Hattiesburg is there? I know the bowling alley by Hunt Club had a pretty big arcade in it when it was still open. I don't even know where kids have birthday parties in Hattiesburg.

Home Goods store! The closest ones are in Mandeville, LA or Mobile, AL
You can find awesome deals there on things for the house or for gifts!

American by birth, SOUTHERN by the grace of God!

One of those 24\7 Chinese buffets would be nice.

There's no place in the 'burg where you can get a good Chinese breakfast without having to order off the menu.

On a rare note, I support MMA on this -- too many chains, not enough local!

Re: Would be great for the "BURG"...

What would be great for Hattiesburg.... let's see:

Less Traffic or more East / West travel routes

Development to quit moving West. Try North or South for a while.

    Roads... Fix the damn roads!

I'm sure there's a lot more. I'll add to this list as they come to mind.

Fantom, are you sure about it going South? Let's really think about it?

Umm, NO, keep Hattiesburg away from us!

Well, not that far South. Stopping @ Hwy 98 would be okay.

Wrecks right there on top of the trucks coming out of Dans would only get worse though. Plus they'd try to redraw the school lines which could lead to many issues with our school district and funding only making folks want to move further south to remain, or get in our district. For the next four years I'm ok with things just the way they are.

The school could go either way if it goes further south. They redraw the lines to make more of palmers go to Forrest County, or they redraw the lines so more of Forrest county goes to Hattiesburg.

I'm good with us staying as country as possible for four more years.

We came through there, Monday morning, right after that fatal accident. The police or ambulance hadn't got there yet. I knew it had to be bad, because no one was approaching the little truck that was under the trailer. That's two fatal accidents, in that same spot, I've came upon right after they happened. Those trucks will pull right out in front of you to cross Hwy 49.

Re: Would be great for the "BURG"...

People think trucks can see over that hill but they can't when people are doing 65 plus mph coming over that bridge. My brother refuses to park there because people don't slow down and think as a trucker they can see over that bridge. He wanted to ride my boys in the big truck when they were little and went out of his way to find a safe spot out of the way from there to load them and avoid that area. ( even though it would of been more convenient he was more worried about safety) Everyone wants to blame truckers but it's just a bad area. After my neighbor was killed there as a teenager they even redone it but it didn't help IMO.

Sorry you had to see it. The sheet was over it by the time I passed.

Re: Would be great for the "BURG"...

A nice CHAIN grocery store would really please me. Primarily because it would be new and MODERN. Its amazing to me that in a town this size our only options for groceries are 1)Walmart 2)Winn Dixie circa 1990 3)Niche pricey local place (corner market) 4)1980's relics in east hattiesburg

Besides that, its probably criminal to not have a whataburger.

I also repeatedly wonder why we don't have a noodle shop, like noodles and company or one of the local interpretations that are so common in many college towns.

If we have to have more asian, a good Korean place would also be incredible. But it has to be JUST KOREAN. It can't be asian fusion "now offering korean dish we make anything bla bla blah"

We tried to have some titty bars years ago, but all the uptight bible thumpers got them shut down. The titty bars didnt have near the trouble as what Club Memories had.
