If you’ve been craving endless soup and salad bowls, your day has come. The Olive Garden on U.S. 98 is slated to open today at 4 p.m. for dinner and will open Nov. 27 for lunch and dinner.
Not my favorite Italian place, but quite good. Reasonable prices, reasonable food. I'm betting it will be hard to get a place for a month or two.

The upper management think the Hattiesburg store will be one of the busiest. So much so that they've stocked it with at least one more salaried manager than would normally be required in a city this size.
Makes me wonder what took them so long to get it going if they knew it was going to be this great...

Today (Sunday) we went there for lunch, but it doesn't open till 4:00 on Sundays. "Good for them" everyone should be allowed Sunday mornings off - to go to church.
We ate at the Longhorn next door, and it was really good. Longhorn was very busy, because everyone that went to Olive Garden saw that it was closed and did like we did and came next door.
AS FAR it "destroying American culture" Are you talking about McDonalds? I would prefer eat aunt Betty's home cooking, but sometimes it is nice to eat out.
I love all the choices we have now. Think twenty years ago - The Coca-Cola and Methodist Hospital were the only thing on Hwy 98 untill you got to Columbia. It is really growing. We have got to get a bypass on the south and north side of 98, or traffic problems will kill us.

I love all the choices, too.
Your location of "Oloh Metro" (very cool, btw!) likely will be smack dab in the middle of the continued westward growth toward Marion County.
The people who said that one day Hattiesburg and Columbia would be connected are probably correct.
Olive Garden is only open limited hours (after 4pm) for the first week or so to get all the wrinkles out of the staff before opening up for regular hours, which will include Sunday.

My Daughter went there the other night and said the food was really Great.I guess i'll try and get over there one day myself. I still love the little resturant in the shell gas station. They food is Wonderful.
We tried to go around 8:00 last night and just judging by the number of people standing around outside I figured it would be 10:00 before we got a seat.
