The appetizers were good (LOL!). However, I ordered the ribeye, medium rare, and it was undercooked and gristly. Probably about 25% of the steak was inedible. It was almost gross, with most of the fat on the steak still hard (it should be soft and translucent if cooked properly). The wine they recommend with the steak is nasty, I forgot exactly what the name is, some sort of Cabernet.

I went to Friday's about 2 weeks ago. I'm usually pretty understanding and patient with a place that's opened up recently... but, the food was just okay and the service was just awful! I'm hoping that we just ended up with the one really crappy waiter. He messed up my friends order and never gave me a drink refill. I guess he also assumed that we would be paying together even though I stated "please put the appetizer on MY bill" (one would think he would understand that meant we wanted seperate bills).... when he finally decided to bring our bill, he gave it to me with all of her meal on it too! Took about 15 minutes to get his attention and ask him to split it... I payed with cash, but I wanted my change back b/c I was going to use a couple of my ones to tip with (even though he didn't deserve it, I was going to be nice). But then he had the balls not to bring me $1.50 in change back. Definately didn't leave any more tip. That's just rude to assume that I was wanting him to keep the change. I always tip well- but not when they steal my money (which in my opinion is what he did.)
I love the Jack Daniels dishes, but I'm gonna wait a long time for them to get the kinks worked out before I go back.

Does TGI Fridays have its smoking section in proximity to the front of the restaurant?
I ask this because someone who tries to avoid second hand smoke told me it was rather unpleasant in TGI Fridays, somewhat on par with the second hand smoke in Buffalo Wild Wings.

I didn't notice that much smoke when I went. I think the smoking section is in the back half, but the bar runs through the nonsmoking section. I guess people can smoke anywhere at the bar, which might make smoke really bad particularly later in the evening.

The following user says thanks to LipsofanAngel for your post:
The smoking section is the bar and the tables around the bar. I work there in the nonsmoking area and don't have any problems with the smoke smell (it gives me a headache). There is a glass wall all the way around the smoking section to keep it in.
The wait is 30 - 45 min. average - but call ahead and tell them you're on your way to get your name on the list. They don't take reservations.
I haven't had any complaints about the food. All I hear is how good it is.
