Congratualtions David Webster!!! I have known David for 10 years or so and he truly cares about the Fire Department, the citizens of Hattiesburg, and making the HFD something we as citizens can be proud of. Also I applaud the mayor and city council for making this appointment and not making HFD suffer because of the other problems within the city. IMO its a great day for everyone in Hattiesburg because of this..

With all of the controversy and problems that some of the other department heads have had, it is great to see the appointment of a solid city employee who has worked his way up to a position of leadership.
It also shows the council is willing to approve appointments that are good ones. So why doesn't the mayor put up the rest of them?

I am still simply amazed that there has not yet been a change at HPD!?!?!?!?! What will it ever take? I am happy for the FD that they are getting a great Chief!

Kind of off the main subject of the thread (sorry) but I was told yesterday that the 2 females recently hired on at HPD, that came from Jackson PD, have quit. Something along the lines of being promised a certain salary level to come to HPD and when they got there, the promised money wasn't there. Said they didn't have to put up with the junk for that kind of pay... May be just rumor but I know some of you have the inside scoop..

Why should things over there at HPD? The Mayor thinks he is doing a good job.
