My Hattiesburg Wiki

Over the past couple of weeks, the advisory board, mods, and I have been working on getting a good list of rule explanations, frequently asked questions, among other articles put into a wiki here at My Hattiesburg.

Why a wiki? Because with a wiki, many people can edit the article and contribute their part to it. Right now, anyone on the advisory board, the moderators, and the administrator can create/edit documents.

We'd love for the members to look over and ask any questions you might have about the content within. We have all looked over it, but I'm certain there is more editing that should be done. Other pages of information will be added in the future to assist new and experienced members with the inter workings of the site. It would also be possible to create new articles about Hattiesburg or the Pine Belt so that people visiting could have a quick way to access information about the area.

There are a couple of pages that I would like to point out:

http://www.myhattiesburg.com/wiki/forum/members/rights -- New member rights page with basic rights of all members who sign up here at the forums and are in good standing.

Please read over these documents because they will be used as guidelines when the advisory board institutes changes to our community or new policy. The moderators will use it when making judgments about various post reports or when moderating a post in general. Thank you for being a part of our community, we hope this doesn't restrict the use of it, but promotes behavior that makes it an enjoyable experience for the majority of members.

My brain is hurtin' already. I have broken some of those rules......I do however like the use of the word tolerance in them.

It basically defines what goes on here already, and there are just a few new things added. All in all, nothing has really changed, things are just on paper so to speak.

What happens if one starts a "bandwagon thread" questioning the "leadership of the community"? One is against the rules, one is a right of the member....Hmmmmm.....An enigma wrapped in bacon....

If you read a little closer, you'll see that it's not the bandwagon thread, but multiple instances of it that is the problem.

Got me.....I just casually and sloppily read through the rules....My pet monkey/legal advisor/spiritual advisor, Coolio, is looking through the fine print as we speak....this is why he doesn't let me write my own checks or sign my own contracts.....

Warning... the following is not work safe (NWS)....

According to the rules, this font would be a type two violation if I hadn't put NWS at the beginning of the post.

I got an infraction for that? Why don't you just remove all other font size options from the system? I gave fair notice at the beginning of the post, just as it said to do in the wiki.

You must give notice in the thread title, not the post. If I have to scroll past your NWS content to see the rest of the thread, then you have effectively hijacked a non-NWS thread with NWS content.

Your rules don't say that. They say that "NWS" should be posted before the content, not the thread title.

This is not what the rules said. You cannot retroactively change stuff; otherwise, you'd need to ban noway and gus.

That's BS. Here's a screen capture of the rules before you changed it, Aaron. I don't like being called a liar, and ask that you publicly retract the infraction and issue an apology for changing the rules after you cited me.

I have clarified the rules, that's what this thread is for, but a person with such intelligence should know that you cannot post NWS content in a thread not marked as NWS. A thread like this one, for instance, cannot contain any NWS content since users would have to scroll past that to read the rest of the thread. I never called you a liar, and I ask that you post a public apology for that statement and for hi-jacking this thread.

You've insinuated that I knowingly posted in violation of the written rules, which is untrue. Therefore, you insinuated that I lied.

Furthermore, you attempted to cover up your revision to the rules instead of admitting that the intent and wording were different. I do not see how I should be punished for failing to understand your unwritten intentions.

I did not insinuate anything. I gave you a warning, and did not punish you in anyway, informing you of the clarification. You are out of line for saying you were punished and have now resorted to lying about me. You took a private warning where I clarified the rules to you and brought it out in public. I'm appalled by this behavior.
